Subluxation: The Underlying Cause of Pain and Discomfort
Chiropractors are the spinal healthcare experts in healthcare and pay close attention to relationship between the spine and the nervous system.
When you are a new patient to our office, Dr. Cramer takes a specialized examination approach to determine if the source of your pain or discomfort is a vertebral subluxation. Subluxations are often the root cause of neck pain, back pain, sciatica, and various other health conditions. A subluxation is when a bone in your spine is out of alignment. This condition can negatively affect your body in two ways.
First, a subluxation causes interference in the nervous system, which over time can lead to serious problems. The vertebral column protects the central nervous system in the spinal cord. However, when a subluxation occurs it causes spinal nerve stress from the misaligned vertebrae pinching or pressing on a nerve. As a result, when the brain tries to communicate to an organ via a nerve, the subluxation prevents some of the information from getting through. When left uncorrected organs in your body will begin to suffer or malfunction as a result of the spinal nerve stress. This organ malfunction can create conditions such as high blood pressure, asthma, acid reflux, neck pain and low back pain.
The second effect of a subluxation is accelerated decay or degeneration – like a cavity in your spine. The research shows that a spine out of alignment degenerates far more rapidly than a spine in alignment. If during the evaluation process Dr. Cramer finds that you have a subluxation then he will most likely take x-rays of the subluxated area. He will analyze these x-rays to find out how severe the subluxation is and determine how he can help you. At this point, Dr. Cramer will give you his recommendations for relief and correction. You can choose what fits into your schedule and budget.
